Untitled (Sofa Painting)
170x110cm, Oil and oil pastels on canvas, 2022
“It was a pale landscape, with lots of yellow grass burned from the sun, lots of shades of brown, a house here and there. I chose a playlist that was very much related to the time and space already evoked by that shot, images and scenes started appearing with no particular order or logic, but of course, there is logic in the path of the firing neurones. Things started to overlap, an orange sofa over-imposed itself onto something resembling a landscape of fragmented scenes, at a time and space very far, very layered in my past. Words, lyrics, diagrams on the paper, trying to get there with some sort of directionless map of what can’t be explained as one thing, one event, one process. Brain takes over, body follows.”
